At university, I learnt high level programming languages, with a focus on Java. I learnt many high level programming practices, including design patterns, development models and testing strategies. I also had the opportunity to improve my skills with SQL and PHP. Outside of university, I have been programming in C++ and C#, using the .NET framework and the XNA framework where needed.
I have had experience working as part of a team to create group projects, as both part of university and as a personal project. I have had experience using source control, and also with working alongside quality assurance teams.
Described below are a few of the many of the projects I have worked upon or have been part of. Many of these were work from my course at university, although recently I have been working upon a game created by myself and some of my friends.
My dissertation at university was to produce an application capable of visualising ant colony optimisation on large datasets. The application was written in Java and featured a UI that allowed the user to select nodes within the data and the pheromone levels determining the quality of the node for classifying data.
The game Aventide was a game designed by myself, and was originally intended as a solo project created using Adobe Flash. The game eventually ended up running slow in Adobe Flash, and seeing the new XNA framework released, my friends and I decided to take the basis of the game and recreate it using C#. The source code was a collaboration of efforts, although the design, graphics and website were created by myself. Within the code, I developed the weapons systems and ship systems and stats.
